The objective of this lecture is to introduce the concept of Hardy Weinberg equilibrium. Hardy Weinberg equilibrium is a property of genetic data that allows us to parsimoniously describe genotype frequencies in a population. The reasons why Hardy Weinberg equilibrium generally holds, common reasons for deviation from Hardy Weinberg equilibrium, and methods for checking for significant deviations from Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium will all be discussed.

Objective

The objective of this lecture is to introduce the concept of Hardy Weinberg equilibrium.
