Sayantan Das (Santy) is a PhD student in the Department of Biostatistics, working with professor Dr. Gonçalo Abecasis. He finished his undergrad degree (B.Stat) and Master's degree (M.Stat) from the Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata specializing in Mathematical Statistics and Probability. He joined the Center of Statistical Genetics, University of Michigan in 2011 and has been working on statistical genetics as part of his doctoral research.

His main area of interest is Genotype Imputation and he has developed a analytical tool for imputation, Minimac3, that is faster and more memory-efficient than contemporary imputation tools, while maintaining the same imputation accuracy. He is also a part of the Psoriasis research team where he has been working of fine-mapping of disease susceptibility loci and Exome Array typing of psoriasis cases/controls.
