I am an Associate Research Professor of Epidemiology and Biostatistics in the Milken School of Public Health, The Biostatistics Center, The George Washington University. I have a PhD in Biological Anthropology and a MS in Applied Statistics. I am the PI for the coordinating center on the RO1 for the Common Variation in Candidate Genes in the Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP) and an investigator on the Maternal Fetal Medicine Unit Network. Over the past nine years I have utilized my advanced degree in applied statistics while working on genetic epidemiologic studies, a natural extension of my PhD in biological anthropology, studying gene associations with various disease traits including diabetes, obesity, metabolic dysfunction, cardiovascular disease, respiratory insufficiency in premature infants, and developmental delays in neonates. As an investigator on the MFMU network, I have working on an analysis of whole exome sequences with the aim to discover maternal genotype influences leading to preterm birth (vs term birth) in women with short mid-trimester cervical length.
