Early versions were used for the analyses presented in [http://www.sph.umich.edu/csg/abecasis/publications/18193045.html Sanna et al (2008)] and [http://www.sph.umich.edu/csg/abecasis/publications/18193043.html Willer et al (2008)]. Since then, METAL has become quite a popular tool for the analysis of genomewide association scans.
